VSI to unveil new plans for x86 OpenVMS, support projects

A pair of webinars is opening the gates to news and updates on the 2020 operations at VMS Software Inc. The VSI reports will be emerging in the final week of June and early July.

On June 25, Brett Cameron and Dave Sullivan of VSI will discuss “various Professional Services available to OpenVMS customers through VSI.” The notice of the webinar is on a WebEx signup page. Professional Services is a significant focus for VSI this year. Marketing VP Terry Holmes told customers in May that VSI is in contact with hundreds of OpenVMS customers now. Service and support are the meat on the bone for the company, which took over all futures for OpenVMS this year.

The other presentation is scheduled for July 7 at 10 AM British Standard Time. That’s about 5 AM Eastern Daylight Time, so North American OpenVMS sites will have to set clocks early on that Tuesday morning. The HP Independent User Group is sponsoring the July 7 event.

Signup for the HP IUG event is through an email to Ian Severn at ian@hpug.org.uk

HPE will tell customers about the upcoming end of sales for i6 models of Integrity servers. Duncan Edmonstone will share “a few words from HPE about Integrity (end-of-sale and end of support dates) and look to the future with OpenVMS x86-64.”

On the Independent User Group lineup, VSI’s Cameron will examine roadmap updates and details of new and updated products. He will also present an x86-64 OpenVMS update. Chris Brown will look beyond x86-64 “to discuss some of our ideas for the future of OpenVMS.

The program will end at 1210 BST. Ian Severn is the host. “If time permits and folks have interest,” he says, “Brett will do a short demo of OpenVMS x86-64.”
